Mugamoodi movie review

                



Mysskin' s pet project...Jiiva 's super hero  act...tagged as first super hero movie in south India..Mugamoodi came at the time of no-big movie release..had a big advantage of grossing bigger...

Story

          Chennai city for the last seven months sees looting of jewels by the burglars and death of old people at  the looted house..Police could not find even a single clue and the case is handled by Gaurav(Nassar)..on the next... Anand/Bruce lee( Jiiva) who is passionate over  kung fu is careless youth and pokkiri to his dad..dreams of becoming a Bruce lee , who enjoys life with his friends..They are trained by the Master( Selvaa) in a deserted place for free of cost...At an Incident Lee Meets Sakthi( Pooja Hegde) , daughter of Assistant commissioner and falls in love with her ...But few incidents brings up a bad image on Lee ..So she hates him..

         Lee meets her in the house with a super hero stitched costume with help of Grandpa...to get sympathy from her..but at the same one of the burglar gets caught by the police near by the house of Sakthi....that too caught by Lee and introduces himself  as Mugamoodi...slowly he gets in to dangerous part where Gaurav get s the clue ..alas unfortunately gets shot by the thief's and situation puts Lee as accused person.. He hides himself in a superhero costume,saves the life of the commissioner in hospital, gets sakthi's love...and finds out that Dragon/Angusamy( Narain) is behind all the criminal acts...Lee gets all the information about him from his master...all of the sudden Master and his friend killed brutally by dragon...

     Dragon gets kidnaps school students, marine officer, and Sakthi..sets a deadline to city police by demanding all the jewels kidnapped by them should be returned by them with a small ship to escape..that too should be brought only by Mugamoodi only..Police gets help of Mugamoodi, sends him..with few childish plans with his grandpa  & assistant he take over Dragon at the harbor Climax...

Strengths

           Jiiva' s performance as lee as adorable..his dedicated work , attire, attitude and the movements differentiated better in Anand and mugamoodi character...his training on the martial art and risk in stunts are amazing..he excels in romance too..but less of space..Narain equally underplayed the role of dragon..and big pat for him that we didn't get any similarity over other super hero villains..Even Jiiva role reminds of bat man...Pooja Hegde is beautiful...but need to go long way on emotions and dance...Nasser is at his best and few other character like Selva, Jiva's Friends, Police officer catch our attentions..

      Music is the best plus/asset of the movie..be it the songs or Background..K is extraordinary and gets the superhero movie feel..without the music the movie would have been a average fair.."Vaya mudi:, "Roatla", " :Mayavi" songs good and captured well too..Madhan karky deserves a pat for his simple and catchy lyrics..women photographer garnered the attentions..and the photography is superb in the songs and few shot canned at nights... lighting's are good at the dark scenes...Screenplay takes of well and the first half is racy with few romantic workouts...thrilling scenes...Stunts by the Danny's is fantastic..fish market fight, Climax crane fight and the hospital one are the best...

Weakness

          Second half falls flat and though it got the pace..it tumbles because twist and turns are easily judged....finish could have been better..lot of movies should have been inspired ..like Ip man, Batman etc...though the story had its originality..Mysskin work on the later part would have made a movie memorable flick..Pooja Hegde lacks the screen presence and her homely look on skinny body looks alien. Romance scenes between the lead pair is zero and she is expressionless in cute scenes too...No justification on the Narain part and his Kung fu school....lot of similarities continue here tooo..take has mysskin similarities???..a bar song- Zoom in shots, camera angles- fights( anjathey hospital fight& this one) ..songs picturisitation..(jiiva running backwords- Bhavana in chitram pesuthadi song)..needs a rework...his style of film making would turned out to be boring one..if he doesn't look out this 

Verdict:4.5/10( 1 for Jiiva, 1 for K's Music& songs, 1 for Photography, .5 for first half and 1 for stunts)
