Story
Bond( Craig) is on a Mission Turkey sent by M ( Judi) ..but one of the agent( Naomi Harris) shoots Bond..M is replaced by the new chairman Mallory ( Ralph Fiennes)of MI6 and now M as 2 months for her retirement..Bond due to the M act hides in some island and lives there...all of the sudden ..MI6 head quarters which is highly secured is hacked by unknown person and bombs the office where few people dies...the unknown person reveals 5 top agents of MI6 in you tube and threatens to kill those agents in coming week...Unknown terrorist target is M and he wants to avenge her ..
Bond after couple of months meets M, takes up few tests physically and mentally ...and meets the new chairman of MI6 too..M gets the cat out and introduce her new secret office and younger Q, who supplies Gadgets and weapons to Bond...now its time for bond to find who is behind the MI6 attack . with a clue he moves to Hong kong meets a lovely girl Severine( Berenice ), attracts by his charm and style..who is none other than the culprits girlfriend..but doesn't know who he is?....she is forcefully taken by the culprit and she wants to come out this dangerous life ..she helps bond to meet the deadly guy...
He is shocked to see Silva( Berdem) who is ex-agent of MI6 worked with M in mid 80's wrongly judges the attitude of M, who secretly hacked the chinese system without consent of M..So M takes her to FBI custody.. Silva wants tit for tat...but with the bond intelligence he has been taken to the secret MI6 place, arrests and hails in secret cell...but alas..silva has different plans..he entirely hacks all the system & security details...knowingly got arrested..Bond takes M to a secret place known as Sky fall where he lived with his parents...Now its time for Bond to save the nation and M from the dangerous killer...
Strengths
The opening chase in bikes, cars and ultimately the crane in train fights keeps you breathless...it is one of the best in the recent bond chases....the climax fight which happens in the bond's birth place Sky fall is also good as bond uses the old style(knife, rifles, hand bombs) of killing than depending on I phones and Gadgets...The photography is stunning almost all the scenes in the movie...the chases, fights, Skyfall house location, hongkong scenes, London streets & sub station are amazing...classical bond music is back after couple of movies...music is fantastic which alone takes up few dry scenes to interesting piece... One liners and few trademark dialogues of the bond is attractive, and quite practical too...
Daniel craig has done his best in the stunts and the charisma is getting bigger day by day..his playing of the middle aged bond and his agony/sufferings over the test and few people are brought out well with his Cat eyes...He's smart , muscular.....Berenice is glamorous and enigmatic..though she had few scenes ..makes her impact..a kinky shower scene had done the justice to the french beauty.Naomi is okay to the role and had delivered enough..but the ultimate gainer is Judi Dench has M is tremendous..Sky fall is about her ..her retirement...the court scene with the minister, think of your sins..display times in laptop..humourous/emotional scenes with bond.............few to mention..does it easy with her great experience...miss you M..Ralph is good and Sam mendes script is okay...
Weakness
Movie runs around 2hr.40 min..it is too long for bond movie..with only couple of stunts comes in the middle except the first and last bang....less gadgets and less action....in fact the women villan will have a great time with bond..sexy bond girls also shares equal screen space..but Sky fall misfires in terms of girls character..where it is very limited..???.more over the story is penned up on the M and her retirement..so other aspects of the bond movies...lacks depth...for eg..average villain, bond girls wasted, thin line story, charmless/style less bond character make the movie dull
Execution utterly fails..no where we see new or creative scenes apart from stunts..using old transmitter /knife, rifles..mmm Bond goes back to 50 year back...story and screenplay is as old as hill and the logic loop holes are not blocked/saved by the director...
Yes, Sky fall will entertain you in the stunts ..awesome locations,cool photography with good looking beauties..with Judi's gracing performance... but not the best..Better stick to Sean, Roger, Brosnan...Casino royale was better in terms of entertainment ..Sky fall is sure a good one compared to quantum of solace & few other bond movies....
Verdict: 4.5/10( 1 for Stunts& chases, 1 for Photography, 1 for Music, 1 for Judi' performance and .5 for Craig& bond girls)
