Story
Evelyn Salt(Angelina Jolie) a American CIA accused of being a Russian spy as the caught prisoner reveals that the spy Salt who trained in Russia is gonna to kill the Russian President at the American Vice president death ceremony. She tries to convince their colleagues whereas they doubt her except his close colleague(Liev Schreiber ). At the same time her Husband is also kidnapped. Analyzing the situation Salt escapes from the CIA custody to reveal her true identity and find his husband.
At the flash back , Russia is arch rival to America at world war time but the in future the problem has been solved by both the countries presidents. But, secretly Russia trains thousands of them from childhood and in plant dangerous thoughts to bring down American economy. Those trained child are sent to America in order to make riots,assassin and confusion in the nation.
Salt, the Russian trained spy kills the Russian president in US, gets in the custody of Police and narrowly escapes from them to meet the brainchild of this plan in a harbor. They kill Husband of Salt and gets her the next assignment of killing the American president. After getting the assignment,Salt kills all the Russian trained people in the harbor. Why did Salt kill their people? is she a really Russian spy or true CIA Agent? who is Salt?. watch out with salted Pop corn for the answers.
Strengths
It is out and out a Angelina Jolie show and as a Russian spy turning out to patriotic American Citizen is awesome. She has risked a lot in stunts and chases proved to be no-less for the action stars. Her hair style and the costumes bring the spy atmosphere.She makes it in style and women actress wants to become a action star? kindly get some coaching from Angelina Jolie as she is the queen of action movies. Liv Schreiber did his as usual evil job. Rest of the cast does a commendable job.
The photography for the action spy movie is laudable . The chases and stunt scenes (truck jumps ) are captured well. Stunt choreographer has made Jolie work hard to bring it real in the screen. The background music sets the mood of the spy movie and it is major asset. The screenplay is racy as it doesn't gets you to the boredom. Salt has got some edge seat action and solid performance from Joli though the script is average.
Weakness
When it comes to Spy genre, make some thrilled action scenes and bomb blows to overcome the loop hole /logic in the script.It is been regular the long years to loose the logic in mind blowing action picture.
Screenplay could have brought some more twists and turns but fails. Phillip Noyce ,the director of Bone collector and some other good movie has worked hard but gripping part have been missing. Climax and some scenes are predictable which is real drawback.
Any way Salt, spy genre is sure entertainer for Jolie and action movie lovers
