After a long five years Sundar. C takes up his hardcore direction job in his home production Nagaram -marupakkam also acted in this movie. Well, to open up its quite a good , fast paced entertainer and not the run-out of- mill movie.

Story
Opening scene of the movie where Sundar. C is knocked down with the knife in the railway station brings interest to the audience with the catchy dialogue. It travels to the flashback. Gate Selvam(Sundar.C) is ex- don who terrorized chennai with his dare devil acts and smuggling, plans to live a normal human and family life. He has bailed out from the jail by his friend Sakkara(Bose venkat) a police officer and his close buddy for Ganja smuggling case. Selvam meets his old friends , gets his plan to settle down in life and shares the house with Style pandi(vadivel). He meets Anuya who is group dancer in the movie leaves with her mother who is second wife of wealthy person Annachi.Selvam and Anuya loves each other leaves in opposite houses. Anuya at a time is disturbed by Annachi as he gives sexual harrasement to Daughter like Anuya.
On the same note, Selvam gets a opportunity to run a travels in Hyderabad but immedietly needs 5 lakhs to get that business . Sakkara, his friend ask a favor to Selvam to take care of harbor contract and safe travel of goods from harbor to other place. Believing him, and for the 5 lakh amount he gets into the act. Sooner he realizes that he is again trapped into smuggling business without his knowledge. Pre-interval, Ganja worth some crore is taken under the custody of sakkara planning to sell for big deal without knowing that smuggled goods is of karaikakkal Bhai(g.Sreenivasan) who is dreadful but a good hearted don with a big network.
Coming to know the information, he lends the help of Selvam, as he worked in Bhai gang. Selvam is very loyal to Bhai,says okay to his friend Sakkara and goes with him to meet Bhai to apologise for mistake as he leaves Anuya alone at the marriage day. He travels with Sakkara, but a sudden twist happen in the Bhai's meet which then takes us to riveting climax...
Strengths
Sundar. c as a actor this time has underplayed his character without punches,fiery dialogue. He was perfect fit for the character Selvam with his Giant-macho look. very less dialogues, positive body language, expression emoting is appreciable. As director, Sundar. C this time has taken the simple plot & story, a person who involves in rowdism cannot live a normal life in the dreadful city. The biggest plus of Sundar .c is comedy laced with some action screenplay .. here to has proved his mettle. last 30 min of movie is action dhamaka...
Movie runs at full speed with comedy, song, romance, glamor and action. Anuya is good at acting similarly depended more on skin show.Rain song....and onscreen kiss... is hot!!!. It is vadivel after 5 yrs of tug war with Sundar.C is back with bang. Both the trio ensures you one of the best comedy scenes of the year. Vadivel is Adhiri puthri form as Style pandi make the theatre laugh like any thing with his wick, delivery& body language. The whisky poured dog , theft , Anuya impressing scenes.... will bring down the houses.
Editing adds flavor to the movie. photography by senthil kumar is apt and local chennai is shown at its natural. Thaman background sounds interesting... "Thikku thikku" and " en peru" songs garner the attention. Casting was apt with Bose,Sreenivasan, Annachi had done a great job.Surprisingly only one stunt in the action movie?????... Thalapathi dinesh has done it fair .
Weakness
Sundar .C blindly trusting his friend is hard to believe though his friend character in the first few scenes depict him as a bad cop. It is hard for us to erase the previous movie Thalainagaram from our mind has the story, some character reminds you the old one.
Songs picturisation could have been better has all are lazily picturised..(kadamaikkkuunnu....)
Still, Nagaram-Marupakkam is worth a watch.
