Easan, the movie directed by Sasikumar after the cult classic Subramaniapuram has drawn lot of expectation from the industry and audience. Each one expected a movie like Subramanipuram..Alas...Easan is complete paradigm shift which potrays the chennai rich , life styles of different social class.

Story
One night ,movie opens up with a song in ECR road pub's where all the guys--girls dancing with wine and rain. A girl has been followed by group of friends in the car teasing her...its all cooked up and girl dies in the accident. High way patrol arrest the drunked young fellows and hands over to Assistant commissioner Sangaiah(Samuthrakani) a honest police officer. They all come out with the help of his friend Chezian(Vaibhav), a son of evil Politician Deivam(AL Alagappan) who is invovled in illegal business and real estate with the help power and rowdy's. Chezian,falls for a girl(Aparna) a Fashion NIFT student, at the first sight in pub,proposes his love to Aparna. After a prostitue raid scene, they both get together in love where a strange incident happen to Chezian at night.
Being, a billionaire daughter ,Hegde SRH group of companies(runs business in 5 states) not accepting her love getting a reason of status...self esteem issues. Hegde, kidnaps Chezian calls up Deivam,request him not to love her daughter else he will kill his son. happens vice verse...She proves her love by cutting her hands. With this compulsion and Deivam's master plan for the marriage/lump some money is worked out with Hegde,as he accepts for the wedding. All of sudden, Chezian disappears from Home.
Deivam lends the support from Commissioner to find his son without knowing to the public. He appoints Sangiaha,AC for this case.Initially, Deivam doesn't accept him as he is upright officer against him. But Sangiah accepts the case and starts his investigation from his family,friends and college. His another friend Vinoth too dies in the accident. All through the investigation, he gets close to suspect where is shocked!!!. Opens up a dark and disturbing flashback of village family,their life, transfer to Chennai for children s studies, ends up with tragedy.Rest is all how the revenge happens as climax unfold in daring way.
Strengths
Most of them are new faces,--two films odd artiste. But the performance extracted from them by director Sasikumar is tremendous. No one is hero/villain/main character as whole film revovles around all these fictious characters. On the first, Samuthra kani has striked the gold walking with plum role of AC with perfection. His presence in the movie is big draw. A.L alagappan,former producer good as evil politician has come out neatly in essayed character. Vaibhav, abinaya, and +1 child, Aparna have all been pillars for the film.
Kathir, DOP is alluring with top-notch shots for a dark film. His canning of shots ...simply superb. James Vasanthan,no where near to Subramanipuram songs( exception "jilla vittu") has shown his sheer brilliance in the background score. He always get along with the movie.One of the best BGM for the year which makes the movie interesting. Editing is fine for a 3 hrs movie and cuts came at right time.
Lot of scenes evoke interest with some suspense pinned in the movie.Innovative methods are handled in the revenge saga. Sasi kumar, though taken old plot,flourishes in his making style.Dialgoues are to the current scenario.
Weakness
The movie runs for 3 hrs -it may be a hindrance for racy flick. Flash back scenes are of old wine and can be easily judged...Sasi could have made this sequence much more better.Length of some scenes are tidy.
But, Sasikumar needs to be applauded for handling a contrast subject from the debut one. Making of the movie is brilliant though some scenes are pretty watched already-feel.Flock into theaters keeping subramaniapuram out in mind..you will enjoy this dark tale.
