Hari after the blockbuster Singham is back again with same old cliched village-belly story but with lack of substance. Venghai is fast paced from the word go-first time with Dhanush has only less to offer

Story
The story is old as hill. Veerapandi (Rajkiran) a landlord is like god for the village people in sivagangai district..Selvam( Dhanush) is his son who always street smart youth but bows before his father has he got great respect. Rajalingam( Prakash raj) with the support of Veerapandi wins as MLA .He promises to do good for the village people. But slowly MLA other face is known to veerapandi -he warns him..do good or you will die by my hands.
Veerapandi inorder to safety and his living condition sends his son Selvam to Trichy to work with uncles real estate company. There he sees Radhika(Tammanna),college girl stays in uncle house.She is none other but her child hood love of Selvam. Initailly she denies it, fear about his family and anger. Slowly she turns out for Selvam .
MLA plans to murder selvam to revenge Veerapandi and utterly fails most of the time. But all of sudden he becomes Minister with his money power in his party and now the cat -mouse game starts betweeen Selvam-Rajalingam to bring their pride down .Selvam and his family accepts her.In sudden twist apart from Rajalingam ,some body tries to kill Veerapandi.who is it and for why? ....long run climax and passable twist....
Strengths
Dhanush is heart and sole of the movie.He is there is every frame and the scene where he meets Tammanna family before the climax is perfect example of his emotions. Tammanna is beautiful and eye candy in songs ..umm..got a good lengthy role too..Raj kiran is dignified and Prakash raj has done similar role in many movies though his performance is outstanding. Other cast like Urvashi, Sudha Ragunathan, charlie is okay
Screen play and narration has some clap-worthy moments...especially the second half starting 20-30 min is interesting.(Hari's touch). love scenes are good between the lead pair which is natural.Technically it is above average where Vetri photography stand out in songs and song picturisation. DSP songs are hummable .."kalangathaley","yenna solla", " Orey oru" stays with you though he fails in the background.Stunts are riveting..
Weakness
Movie length makes you tedious....no sustaining/intereting moments in the story for the last 40 min..simply Aruval..kathall...predictability is soar point ..the climax twist is judged by most of the audience. Tammanna needs to work on her emotions though she looks homely..Rajkiran-dhanush combo reminds us Sandakozhi ..Basic plot is weak and Hari has only midas touch(very little ..)
The biggest let down is Ganja karuppu comedy ..which runs haywire..disgusting dialogues and vulgar body language...thinks that his loud voice will make roof come down..sorry Karuppu...check point time...
Venghai is mild entertainer where Hari partly succeeds and mostly failed to bring back the magic of his previous movies
Verdict:4/10( 1 for Dhanush, 1 for Songs , 1 for stunts and 1 for some clap-worthy scenes)
