Deivathirumagal movie review

Inspiring the movie or say copying/remaking of the movie and make it to the certain audience is not an easy task and every one doesn't succeed. But for Director Vijay it is a cake walk....Deiva thirumagal though heavily borrowed from the Hollywood movie I am Sam, as its own attraction with some terrific performances.

Starring: Vikram, Anushka, Amala Paul, Santhanam,
Direction: AL Vijay
Music: G V Prakash Kumar
Production: UTV Motion Pictures
Subtitles: Rekhs

Story

Krishna ( Vikram) a mentally retard men whose age is 29 but has the mentality of 6 year old child marries a rich girl and works in Chocolate factory. All of the sudden his wife dies by giving birth of girl child..all is he left alone..Krishna is supported by some staffs and the owner of the chocolate company victor(KK) who has soft corner for Krishna..Slowly Krishna tries to understand the child need ,takes care of his child with utmost love and care names her Nila( Sara)....till her age of five.. daughter and father lives happily has both have the same attitude.

Krishna joins Nila in a school with help of his owner where Nila finds friendship with the Swetha(Amala paul), the correspondent of the school without knowing that she is the corres. At the annual competition Swetha sees Krishna ...gets angry with him..thinks that he killer her sister who is wife of Krishna..So she calls her father ...explains about her sister death, posses the child from the mental krishna....his father cunningly convince them and takes both to chennai...leaves Krishna in the middle of the road by taking Nila to his house...
Krishna meets Anu(Anuskha) a upcoming lawyer to get his Nila back..Initially Anu and his co avoid krishna for his mental position but gets into the case wholeheartedly after listening the story of krishna and his love towards his daughter.

Anu first try to convince the Swetha's father but couldnot as he is one of the bigshot. Finally she takes up the challenge -files habby copus against his family to bring the child. But , rich man gets the help of Bhasiyam( Nasseer) a biggest ,wise criminal lawyer in the country. Anu needs to prove that Krishna is not mentally ill to have the child back..Anu and co gets into some bribe& intelligent acts .AT the end all their jinx collapses in the climax and the end is heartwarming finish with full of tears and emotions....a brilliant movie...

Strengths

Vikram, the man amazing transformation as mentally-ill person Krishna is terrific. He is known for his best when it comes to serious movie..here is the movie for this actor a one more golden feather in cap.His weight loosing physique, Dubbing, hand shakes, walks, expressions at the time of child birth..at the same death of his wife....climax court scenes...make u shed tears..actor who is passionate about cinema can do this....No body could have done justice to the role Krishna..Stupendous.....Next with tough competition is Baby Sara..she is cute, beautiful and wholesome provides tough act to Vikram and others with her fantastic expression ..in specific the climax will stay for the long time....both of them walked in the tight rope..a small mistake could have made blunder of the movie.

Sweety....Anuskha as the lawyer does the role with great confidence and guts to the Anu character. Her attire is simple,homely...she emotes beautifully with Y.GEE scenes.Actress has done some good humour with Santhanam. not even a bit skin show..daring role.Santhanam tickles you whenever he is in the screen..shows that he is better actor too.Amal paul is good..KK as the choc co. owner..Vikram four friends,M.S BhaskarNasseer, are perfect casting /pillars of movie.

Nirav is at his best and he tries out different angle of Ooty though lot movies have run with Ooty.. Cinema-photography is fresh .G.v two of the song .." Aariro Aariro" and "Vizhigalil" is hits the ears...also the young composer excels in background score...Editing ensures the pace...Vijay, the dierctor as ship of the captain is overall the master..He has carved a niche in the top spots and the movie is fantastic without a crass comedy, glamour, stunts,villians..Characterizations is the biggest asset of Vijay...he excels better than previous outing..

Weakness

There is no originality in the story and character department as it is copied from I am sam movie..with some breath taking performance from Sean Pean and Michelle Pfiffer. Vijay could have done justice atleast thanking the" I am Sam" crew in the title.....Some scenes involving M.S bhaskar and wife, few in the second half and Vizigalil ( beautifully shot song!!!!!)song affects the progress of the movie.

Well Flaws apart..DeivaThiryumagal is sure to bring tears from the audience with some rocking performances ....not to forget a good movie always have place in Tamil cinema ...sure to go places.will stay in your heart....

Verdict:8/10( 2 Vikram, 1 for Sara, 1 for Anuskha, 1 for casting&performance, 1 for photography, 1 for music, 1 forscreenplay & direction)
Movie canvas punch: Deivathirumagal...heavenly...

  1. This is a delightful movie to watch though the story is inspired and nothing that hasn't been touch by directors globally and nationally. Stellar performances from Vikram, Nasar and finally a proper role for glamour doll Anushka Shetty whom we see acting for the 1st time. She does a good job as an good hearted Advocate. Vikram stands out for his act as a grown up with the mind of a 5 year old boy. His portrayal of innocence is what moves us throughout the movie. The bonding shown between Vikram and the child (as a father - Daughter duo) touches our hearts. The songs are good by GV and would have felt better if he hadn't copied 2 of them from western sources. Overall, a qualitative, well narrated movie with a heart worth watching with the family. This movie is suitable for all ages.
