Story
The city is facing lot of bomb attacks by terrorist...in that one a vehicle traveled by terrorist itself face the blast..where a courageous reporter Bharathi(Genelia) leaves the note that every baddie who disturbs people will be killed by Velayutham...a imagination name to create fuss between bad peoples. The story shifts to village where a milkman Velayutham(Vijay) and his sister(Saranya Mohan) lives happily with their relatives.. a do-gooder in nature and lovable person to the village is all life for his only sister...his uncles daughter Vaidehi(Hansika) roams around Velu to get his love and her ambition is to marry him.
Velu's sister gets engaged and he gets chennai to get the savings amount from a chit fund company for the marriage expenses and purchases. Unknowingly , from the day one he landed Chennai...he saves people from some bomb attacks without his knowledge...Reporter gets surprised to see the real man in the place of imagination velayutham...meets him and explains the situation.that he is Velayutham. She asks his support to find out who is the black sheep...initially denies..but his chit fund companies lock out and cheats people..
Few people death and some tragedy irks Velu..He sends his family safe to village and gets back in to the shoes of Velayutham..kills the baddies ..even stops the biggest attacks planned by terrorist..all people lends support to Velayutham..Terrorist wants to know his face and he plans a trap...Velayutham breaks the jinx and get back to village to proceed marriage of sister...Terrorist escapes from police custody and sends a bomb gift to the ceremony...what happens to the bomb..did Velayutham is known to people ? gets into interesting climax with a social message planted commercially.
Strengths
Its the mass man Vijay who is the biggest attraction..its new to shoulder a super hero role...Vijay underplayed the role ..he takes of it sensibly..dance is as usual...dream steps..emotions....comedy with santhanam, romance with Hansika and Genelia....immense screen presence-with well fit body(watch out last bare body fight)..he 'sall there in every frame...Hansika is eye candy and bubbly..her skin show will attract the crowd..and she is smoking hot in sensiuos song "Chillax"..check out the weight too barbie...
Genelia for a difference got pleasant and brave role of reporter portrayed brilliantly...she fits the bill and in songs too she is gorgeous...Santhanam doesn't fail..his one liner and comic timings are superb...lot of stars are there in the movie..but every body has felt the presence..Saranya mohan, ilavarasu, pandiarajan, Shayaji, Soori ..done well..
Vijay Antony makes the audience dance to his tunes...being all the songs chart-buster..."chillax",melodiuos "Molachu", "Mayam" are peppy..even shines good in background...he is biggest attraction...Photography is apt for the commercial entertainer ..Priyan done a fine job in train and song sequence...Dance choreographers have done tremendous jobs..every single dancer make their mark...Editing is fine making movie racy and interesting ....Stunts are impressive....kudos to Silva, the stunt master..Raja is captain of the ship has managed to get this big cast pulled and has finally yield the results..his screenplay and the dialogues has some clap worthy moments...Has made it louder that he can make original scripts too..not only remakes..Aascar Ravi banner and his beliefs on Raja has given results..Man behind the movie...
Weakness
Second half has some unwanted dragging but not a speed braker ..few moments raise questions....logic??his costumes and fight sequences is lifted from the video game Assasins....first few min was not so impressive..
well.......Velayutham by Raja with Illayathalapthy has nothing different in story but still it should be the pick of family and commercial audience...Velayutham has its own moments...songs-fights- glamor -emotion-comedy.Treat for Vijay fans...
