Ishtam movie review

Yemindi vela..telugu runaway hit is remade as Ishtam in tamil with Vimal first time coming out of village attire to urban IT youth...But all remakes aren't successful.. which deals about today's IT youth and their life style with old scenes revisiting the screen

Starring: Vimal, Nisha Agarwal, Anoop Kumar, Parvathi Nifran, Pragathi, Yuvarani
Direction: Premi Nizar
Music: Thaman S
Production: Ramesh Dhantra

Story

Story opens with Saravanan(Vimal) talking with girl (Parvathi) and Sandhya(Nisha Agarwal) meets youth and sharing the love and marriage story which got failed due to their echoes.gets to a flash back .....Saravanan a Student from IIT searching for a job stays with his friend(Santhanam) meets Sandhya..initally they dont get well with their attitude but after a coffee in restaurant they become good friends.

Sandhya is getting another love proposal from minister son who is sincere but she prefers Saravanan who has got Wipro job..his antics and outspoken floored her..slowly they do all the activities of youth kissing, hugging and finally one day...they make sex..next minute saravanan proposes his love and it gets into marriage..but none of their family members like it except saravanan mother..she teaches life lessons for both and bless them to lead happy life..

Aall of the sudden with a small incident ..they quarrel, misunderstand and fights..finally they plan for mutual divorce..Sandhya with help of her aunt gets a another proposal and saravanan to gets another girl ..fix up their marriage in different register office..but alas...they didn'g marry..because after some serious incidents their love still lived in the heart...appaaa....how many times?

Strengths

Vimal does his part well in emotions and his scenes with Santhanam are hilarious.. Nisha reprises her role again in Tamil..she reminds her sister Kajal  ..good at acting but look after lip sync..she is glamorous & sexy in the sarees...It is Santhanam the one man who makes us keep this boring movie watch at parts..his form on one-liners will surely tickle the bones..he is the only silver lining in the movie after a memorable performance from Pragathy as Vimal's Mother...

Photography is good in songs ...but pale towards the movie..Music by thaman is disappointing as couple of songs lifted from his previous telugu movies..though "dhinaku Dhin" song goes well with ears and foot..editing is okay..

Weakness

Story and concept is okay but screenplay is spoilsport ...movie is dull from start to end and none of the scenes are imaginative ..most of the scenes remind of previous movies...that as been seen by million times...snoring screenplay and even dialogues are pitty...background score to this movie is below average by Thaman...Direction is very lethargic..moreover..the double entere dialogues and the drinking scenes is disturbing....

Vimal is perfect miscast for the IT urban-city guy role...his image of village boy is still hanging...though he looks stylish in the costumes and looks..his body language and english diction is sure ugly which is the base for the character....Over all it test you patience..nothing goes right with this remake..

Ishtam movie watching makes you sleep..

Verdict: 2.5/10( 1 for Santhanam and 1 for Nisha Glamour & .5 for songs)
Movie canvas Punch: Ishtam..kashtam....watching is Unga Ishtam
