Billa 2 movie review

         Billa 2 one of the most anticipated movie of the year and  Thala fans going ga-ga after blockbuster Mankatha with Chakri Toleti wielding the megaphone.Trailer was slick and technically it was amazing..so  the first prequel?..in India and already well known David Billa ....so whats there with Billa 2?

Story
          Open's with Billa caught in the hands with rowdies with a knife stab and ferociously fighting the enemies..come there a gripping titles telling the whole story...on the flash back...David Billa(Ajith) comes to the Srilankan refugee camp in coastal Tamilnadu.Her sister and Daughter Jasmine( Parvathy) are there in Chennai.In the Camp he faces problem with a police man who is a baddy and against Refugee people..Billa acts as a savior and policemen wants to revenge him ...But Bill with dare devil attitude with Ranjit..overcomes from the police in diamond case..He meets Annachi(Illavarasu) .Impressed by the qualities of Billa...Annachi takes care of him..


         Billa involves in drug case which directly makes him to meet the great don of Goa Abbasi( Sudhanshu) with help of Annachi and his friend..Abbasi girlfriend Sameera( Bruna) eyes Billa for his intelligence and smartness..Abbasi gets a work to Billa ..and he needs to safeguard the arms & weapons from the police ..so that he gets 20 crores for the consignment from Dimitri( Jamal) who is dreaded arms and weapons mafia in Russia..Billa does it with ease...Billa gains the confidence of Abbasi and send him to Dimitri to deal in new business..Alas..Billa sister dies and Jasm,ine is now in Goa.


      Due to miscommunication...Abbasi traps Billa and wants to kill him because of misunderstanding and individual decisions...Billa kills Abbasi, keeps Sameera with him and becomes a king maker in drugs and weapons...Dimitri wants him dead..In the middle, Jasmine gets killed and Billa takes the Mafia single handed, kills violently the untrustworthy people and builds his kingdom as Don Billa.




Strengths
         
         Undoubtedly the movie banks on Ajith and his Charisma..He is there in every frame...his anger, attitude, body language , slow dialogues delivery, daring stunts, cool costumes-blazers with ray-bans proves the actors versatility in handling this role of Don. Ajith has risked a lot in stunts ...helicopter fight, club-bottle fight and small house ,carnival stunts speaks a lot . dynamic performance and terrific screen presence with punching one liners..from Thala..is sure treat to his fans and movie buffs...Parvathy is beautiful not much to essay about her role..Bruna Abdulla looks ravishing with grey shade role steals the show from Parvathy...Her bikini's -act and Micro mini's are sure to attract the male audience..Jamal is super smart and fits pretty well in the Dimitri shoe as well as Sudhanshu pandey . Other did their job


    Technically the film is splendid..with A-class visuals from R.D Rajasekar capturing the mood of the place is brilliant..his lighting and frames are different in the seas shore , Russian and Barovia locations..He is the man who shouldered the movie after Ajith for the grandeur. " Unakulley Mirugam"( visual treat-uniquely shot), " Gangster" , "Idhayam" songs are hummable ..suits the mood of the don movie..though Yuvan  shines better in the backgroung score....especially the Billa tune...Editing is good and not to forget the Dialogues..of Ra.Murugan." Utkaarthu velai seiravankukkum, irangi Velai seiravanukum Vidyasam Irruku", Jeichutta Thivavathi, Poradikittey iruthutha Porali", " Naalvangalai kandupidikarathu than Kashtam"...are catchy & frenzy too. He deserves the credit. Action scenes are very different from other movie..not jumping , ropes etcc... Club-bottle fight, climax one and Russian carnival fight are good .


Weakness


            The screenplay is the big letdown and Chakri needs to be blamed.. logic-less screenplay..eg..Truck which has arms kidnapped by billa when police surrounded him is kiddish...none of Refugees speak Srilankan Tamil, and even Goa Minister speaks Clear Tamil?? lethargic scenes spoils the grandeur of Billa...nothing imaginative...how interesting should be the path of Agathi to Don??but it goes in Vein....lot of violence, knife stabbing(neck) and blood is sure a weak point in Billa 2. Big scenes are spoiled with kiddish ideas...
   The scene where he rescues Parvathy from villain is copy cat of the great movie ..Body of Lies by Ridley Scott...Movies Like 'God Father', 'Scarface' have some similarities with Billa...Chakri direction is below average with a star like Ajith...little work on screenplay would have done wonders


Over all Billa 2 will satisfy Thala fans and technical lovers


Verdict: 5/10( 1 for Ajith & Charisma, 1 for Photography, 1 for Stunts, 1 for BGM and 1 for glamour & glitz)
