Nagaraja Cholan M.A MLA movie review

Satyaraj-Manivannan Combo created a huge stir in 1997 with sensational political thriller Amaithipadai ..had been appreciated for brilliant performance of Satyaraj, Manivannan and scorching punches.... screenplay...again they are back with the sequel Nagaraja cholan which is 200th movie of Satyaraj and 50th movie for director Manivannan..

Production: K Suresh, S Ravichandran
Cast: Manivannan, Sathyaraj, Seeman
Direction: Manivannan
Screenplay: Manivannan
Story: Manivannan
Music: James Vasanthan

Story

Nagaraja cholan( Satyaraj) after a long gap wants to get into politics by threatening the chief minister itself and he becomes deputy Chief minister. Nagaraj Cholan right hand Manian( Manivannan) too assist him His son( Raghu) loves a village girls and marries her without dad's consent where he has lot of dreams about son  goes vanished...though he accepts them..On the other hand...the people who lives in forest village, where they depend on forest and their love for trees are hampered by Nagaraja cholan...

Seeman who is protester and loves people stand against him ....he is supported by Tamil( Komal Sharma) a teacher and his fiancee..tribal peoples...Nagaraja cholan desperately needs the land has he got good commission from the foreign manufacturers...goes to any extreme of making this people get out of the land....Chief minister is also against Nagaraja Cholan...so with his antics, he becomes CM and uses full power to bring down his enemies..every body in state are against him even , his daughter in law, son...are opposite to him....has Nagaraja Cholan empire has been destroyed? or built up strongly? does people/tribal s surrender them or did they provide evidence to arrest Nagarajan cholan...... succeed or not?? is the movie...

Strengths

Undoubtedly,  it is Satyaraj who shoulder this below average movie to a extent..his style of delivering the dialogues  body language , his never care attitude , chemistry with Manivannan is crackling..no one can ever fit this role of Ammaavasai/Nagarajan cholan has Satyaraj fits...he is at his best ...and his witty liners are dynamite...next is Manivannan....he looks old, tired but his powerful punches against the societies and politics are sure welcome kinda..his acting with Satyaraj is top notch elevating the Nagarajan character with arrogance & breezy villain .Seeman & Raghu is fine. Photography is lush green and makes us movie pleasant watching .

Razor sharp dialogues are the biggest plus for this Nagaraja Cholan...Kudos to Manivannan for boldly uttering some real mean & social responsible dialogues....

Weakness

The cast is complete misfit...all the others except few have acted  more than they are paid...the tribal girl, the daughter in law..and the teacher ..Komal Sharma.. acclaimed national level squash played has dished out bad performance. she was cute in some personal photo shoots ...wooden expression and over acting in the name of "Puratchi" teacher ...bad choice......Most of them seems like disinterested in performance....not sincere..

The screen play most of the time defies logic...can CM use his power to take out the tribal people like this with rowdies and police has every body in the nation watching it and simple says Nagaraja cholan is dangerous..???does CM always rest in farm house, enjoys girls and Kuthu dance ..not even a single scene shown like working in the office.....Editing could have done some scissor work. Music by James Vasanthan...one of the forgettable movie for him in terms of songs and music.....

The concept is fine but director falls in execution part...little old style..especially the people Vs rowdies in the forest .....the villain and few baddies turn goodies all of the sudden without reason....Raping, cinematic scenes & artificial generated acting and scenes pull down this Nagarajan ..Expectation mostly fails..here too

Verdict:3.5/10( 1 for Satya raj, 1 for Sharp dialogues, 1 for the photography and .5 for Manivannan)
Movie canvas Punch: Ammavaasai wins and Nagaraja Cholan loses.....
