No watch out S pictures Ananthapurathu veedu for a unique storyline and do-gooder ghosts.The movie teaser promised to be super natural thriller but it ends up with different genre family sentiment thriller.
Story
Balu(nanda) who has lost his parents in a car accident in small age is brought up in chennai as orphan. He starts leather business with his friend being a working partner. He loves Revathi ...Re(chaya singh), marry her and leaves a happy life with his dumb born sweet child Ananth(debut Aaryan). They all come to their native place i. e to his father house to spend a holiday. There he has his old friend rathnavelu and servant in house. Initially the dumb child Aaryan sees the ghost but he is not frightened because it entertains the child,cooks food, cleans home,put make up to child etc...
Sooner Revthy feels that this house is haunted and dead father & mother of balu leaves here.she also suffers with claustrophobic disease where she will be fainted if all the doors are closed in room/house. She conveys it to balu where he criticizes. she finally decides to go back to Chennai, where balu doesnt accept the decision. Both gets argument and finally nanda reveals that we are not in a holiday. we ran from Chennai because of loss in business and couldn't pay the interest amount to person, as they follow him at regular interval. In short they are house arrested.
But nanda also realizes the ghost in the house but they cannot run of house. The person gave the money nudges him,gives him a dead line else to face the consequences. Balu send his friend to Chennai to trace the cheated person and arrange for some money but returns with empty hands. balu decides to sell the house. Nothing goes right ....At last they try to escape from them leaving the house as it cannot be sold because the ghost terrifies the house broker too.whether they escaped or not? who cheated balu? where is lost money? who is culprit? what does the ghost did to the couple? ...get the answers from the big screen with shocking climax.
Strengths
Thumbs Up to Naga, tv seriel director who as penned the screenplay with different plot/theme that is ghost helps people. It varies from normal horror/thriller genre. It is fully a family entertainer and no gory scenes,scream, ear blown music, vomiting makeups. Ghost doesn't make you fear but audience can feel the pulse of the ghost. In terms of performance, Debut child Aaryan walks with aplomb. As a dumb child, curly hair boy he, occupies the screen with cute expression and scintillating performance.He make the first half pretty enjoyable.
Nanda has improved in his acting skills and chaya singh as claustrophobic patient/wife gets the sink right.she potrays the wife character with naive. The villian a newcomer in a silent role make u to ask a question Evanda evan??. no sumos, EEEEIiiii sound, aruva,kathi,flying fights. welcome a new villian to tamil industry as he makes impact on screen.
Photography is good as it touches the nook & corner of the house. New comer music composer ramesh kanna shines in background. Screen play is good and the direction skills too especially the pre-interval and climax sequences.
Weakness
It lacks the pace. Though the concept is different some time it makes us yawn in theater. There are lot of loop holes. Why does the ghost wait for them to come to native place to lend help to his son and not in Chennai? why does he hate the parents? pre-climax is like beating around the bush. CG could have been better as it reminds vittalacharia kinda movies.Editing lacks the speed.
Apart from the drawbacks the movie is sure a watchable one. Naga has come up with a surprise storyline where some of scenes are awesome and interesting. If you look for a timepass then go in for this veedu without any expectation, certainly you will enjoy to an extent.
Verdict: 4/10(1 for Aaryan, 1 for story and script, 1 for lead cast and 1 for photography and background)
