Story
A nuclear reactor researcher Komarov is in Prison ..asking about a secret file..which consist of serious & bad information about Chagrin, who is now eyeing on the national security officer position in Russia...That file has some secret information and evidence against Chargin.....at the same..John( Bruce wills) comes to Russia in order to rescue his son Jack, who had been arrested for the cocaine case....but sooner..the son with Komarov escapes from the prison by bombing the court area....without knowing what's is happening..John McClain unintentionally joins the mess.
John comes to know that his son is not a drug seller but a spy to US and he is on a mission to rescue the researcher and hand over to US government .but with John's interruption ..he could not cover the mission ..but he has the researcher with him..all the victor people searching them with specialized weapons in the streets of Russia..John and his son after few arguments and emotions join hands together to complete the mission..with the help of the researcher..they come to know that the file is nothing but a key to secret place....the key's information is with researcher daughter( Yulia), so he ask her to come secret to common place...John, his son, researcher meets her gets the key but got in the trap of Victor .as his own daughter is on the baddies group for money..they take the researcher with them and order their boys to kill both..but after a gun fight..they both comes to secret place called Chernobyl a dreaded nuclear radiation city to rescue the researcher but there they are shocked to see that it's all drama played by the researcher...what was in the place? did John and his son saved the nation or not? ..
Strengths
Damn thing is first...it all the chases, gun firings chopper firing, roof collapsing, glass and lights..breaking..bombs blowing...the action is at its best. here...the Russian road chase with trucks chase and cars getting hit by the truck and jumps to a corridor is never seen action in a decade...the meeting point of Bruce Willis, Stephen, Yulia in a building ...the fishy doubt ..their trap in the top floor of the building and climax scene where the chopper hits the roof and collapse is blistering...there is no word for boredom or dull.. the scenes have enough punch to take the audience with rib tickling one liners, kick ass action..The photography is grand .. lighting's for the action sequences are highly commendable...Stunts is the USP of this movie..Screenplay is tight , which ensures the movie pace .....
We cant think anyone apart from Bruce Wills as McClain .From the 1998 1st franchise till this one.. he is at this comfort zone..playing it quite beautifully the officer role...as other say he is crazy lunatic .he is terrific in the action scenes and still the bullets & bombs ignore him ...Bruce rocks with corny one liners and still has the pace of carrying mega action movie on his own..his son..does a fine job and is On screen Che misty with Bruce wills as son-father is executed beautifully with emotion and humor .Yulia Sniger in sexy bad ass role is fine...Marco Beltrami is the other hero in this movie ....the music keeps the movie almost all time entertained
Weakness
The franchise keeps better and better with every installment but this time..John Moore story was lethargic and doesn't have the intelligent quotient like the previous one..( the 4th was the best!!!techie one)....story is simple ....and it is routine like all action movie....Logic where is it..? Bruce and his son comes out freshly after serious of car tumbling ..gun firings....
But Die hard 5 is not a bad film..the action scenes ,chases are explosive
Verdict:5.5/10( 1 for Bruce, 1 for Photography, 1 for Music, 1 for stunts& action,1 for first half and .5 for funny one liners)
